Citipower and Powercor WHS behaviour review

BACKGROUND

Leading Edge Safety Systems was engaged by Citipower and Powercor Australia to conduct a WHS Behavior Review to understand the underlying cultural drivers of WHS behavior by both management and employees; the identification of barriers that may restrict the further development and reinforcement of WHS behavior and the identification of specific strategies to positively influence WHS behavior at all levels. Both management and staff across the State participated in interviews and focus groups and a survey tool was used to identify and analyse underlying safety assumptions.

THE RESULT

From this work various improvements were made to safety incident and investigation processes, fair and just culture application, safety observation processes and the collection and dissemination of lead safety performance indicators. Additionally, Leading Edge Safety Systems followed up with rolling out more targeted training in systemic safety incident investigation techniques and human factors and error management for key operational staff.
